41. What is the maximum limit for family pension to a child who is in receipt of two family pensions i.e. in respect of both parents, who were Government servants?
The maximum limit for two family pensions being granted to the child of government servant is (a) (i) if the surviving child or children is or are eligible to draw two family pensions at enhanced rate of 50% of last pay, the amount of both the family pensions shall be limited to one lakh twenty five thousand rupees per mensem;
(ii) if one of the family pensions is payable at the enhanced rate and the other family pension is payable at ordinary rate, in lieu thereof the family pension becomes payable, the amount of both the family pensions shall be limited to one lakh twenty five thousand rupees per mensem;
(b) if both the family pensions are payable at ordinary rates, the amount of two family pensions shall be limited to seventy five thousand rupees per mensem.
42. What should the pensioner or his/her spouse do if their daughter is widowed or gets divorced after retirement of the Government servant?
The pensioner (or his/her spouse, if the pensioner has died) should inform the fact to the Head of Office so that there is no difficulty in sanctioning family pension to widowed /divorced daughter when her turn comes.
43. When do the parents become eligible for family pension?
Family pension to the parents shall be payable if the parents were wholly dependent on the Government servant immediately before his or her death and the deceased Government servant is not survived by a widow or an eligible child or the widow and children have died / become ineligible for family pension.
44. How is the income of parents calculated for deciding eligibility for family pension?
Parent shall be deemed to be dependent on the Government servant if their combined income is less than the minimum family pension and the dearness relief admissible thereon.
45. Who among the parents receives the family pension?
The family pension, wherever admissible to parents, will be payable to the mother of the deceased Government servant failing which to the father of the deceased Government servant.
