Will the Minister of LAW AND JUSTICE be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government has taken/proposes to take any steps for preparing ‘one country-one voter list’ in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of the progress made so far in this regard; and
(d) the time by which such list is likely to be completed?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN PARTS (a) TO (d) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION No. 139 FOR REPLY ON 27TH NOVEMBER, 2019
(a) to (d): The Election Commission of India has informed that electoral rolls are maintained Assembly Constituency-wise which are used for both State Assembly and Lok Sabha Elections. For using the same electoral rolls for local body elections in the States, the State Governments have to amend their election laws in terms of clause (4) of article 243K and clause (2) of article 243ZA of the Constitution.
