Diwali Bonus 2018: Rajasthan Government Employees to Get Bonanza as Election Commission Grants Approval
Employees of the Rajasthan government are set to receive their bonus for Diwali 2018, as the Election Commission has cleared the state government’s proposal to grant the bonanza.
As per the proposal cleared by the polling body, all state government employees in the pay grade of 4800 will be entitled to a bonus of Rs 6,774. The amount has been decided based on the 2003-04 prices.
Apart from the state government employees, workers of the Panchayat Zilla Parishad would also be paid the bonus. The whole exercise will cost the exchequer Rs 406 crores.
Notably, the decision on Diwali bonanza was approved by the Election Commission as the Model Code of Conduct has already been imposed in the state. The caretaker government headed by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje had sent the proposal to the State Election Commission, which in-turn had forwarded the same to the Central Election Commission.
Earlier in the day, the Tamil Nadu government had sanctioned Rs 486.92 crore expenditure to grant Diwali bonus to the public sector unit employees. The maximum bonus has been capped at Rs 16,800, whereas, the minimum would be Rs 8,400.
The Palaniswami government has drawn applause for making provisions of bonus for the contractual labourers as well. The bonanza per contractual workers would range between Rs 2,400 to Rs 4,000.
