Wearing ID cards made mandatory for TN govt employees
The Tamil Nadu government today made it mandatory for its employees to wear identity cards with photograph during work.
Employee and Administrative Reforms Department Secretary Swarna said ”all government staff must carry their identity cards with them during working hours.”
It may be recalled that after protesting for nearly 10 days, the members of the Joint Action Committee of Tamil Nadu Teachers’ Organisation (JACTTO) and Government EmployeesOrganisation (GEO) withdrew their protest against the Stategovernment on September 16.
The strike was called off after the Madurai bench of Madrashigh court issued warning and also assured that it would summonthe Chief Secretary to the court to sort out their problems.
They had been demanding restoration of the old pension scheme and implementation of the recommendations of the seventh pay commission.
