Retirement benefits under Contributory Pension Scheme to be disbursed shortly : Tamil Nadu government
he State government has submitted that orders were issued as early as in February 2016 to the effect that the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) accumulation i.e. the employee’s contribution along with government contribution and interest thereon up to the date of final authorisation in respect of retired, resigned, died employees and whose services are terminated due to various reasons be settled immediately, subject to obtaining an undertaking from them and the legal heirs of the deceased that they would not make any further claims under the CPS.
The secretary (Expenditure) said this in his counter-affidavit filed before Justice N Kirubakaran in response to writ petitions from Sri Venkateswara Aided Middle School in Namakkal district and others, on Monday.On September 15, the judge had directed the State government to furnish certain information with regard to the contributory pension scheme (CPS) introduced by it recently.As per the report of the Commissioner of Treasuries and Accounts, 7,409 applications requesting CPS final settlement have been received up to August 31 last. Of this, final authorisation was issued in respect of 3,288 retired/resigned employees/deceased employees for `125,24,24,317 and remaining applications would be authorised on receipt of processed requisite documents, the counter said.
Denying the charge, the counter said the government has been contributing its share regularly after the deduction of the employees’ contribution. There is no failure in making the government contribution.
The total amount of employee and government contribution with interest is being deposited in the public account every year. A sum of `18,016 crore has been accumulated, including interest up to March 31 last. Account slips for 2016-17 had already been issued to the individuals concerned and the same had been uploaded in the website, the counter added.
