Supreme Court notice to Centre on ‘one rank one pension’
The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Centre on a writ petition filed by Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement and 10 retired army personnel seeking ‘one rank one pension’ (OROP) to retired army men.
A bench of Justices Dipak Misra and C. Nagappan, after hearing senior counsel Ram Jethmalani and counsel Balaji Srinivasan issued notice and sought the response from the Defence and Finance Ministry as well as from the Army.
The petitioners questioned the notification issued by the government on November 7, 2015 regarding implementation of OROP and said the order did not meet the demands of ex-servicemen. They said they are presently drawing pension that is not consistent with their rank and/or length of service. OROP is the uniform payment of pension to all ex-servicemen who retire in the same rank with the same length of service irrespective of their date of retirement.

Chandrasekhar Dash says
The country is aware that the military veterans have been fighting for their rightful demand for OROP which has been admitted by various govts at different times and consented by a Joint Parliamentary Committee headed by Mr. Koshiyari. Moreover the military veterans have already taken this matter to the Supreme Court where the verdicts of SC goes in favour of the military veterans leaving the case clearly in favour of the military veterans. Best wishes to the Judiciary in anticipation to win over the CORRUPT Indian Politics.
